His first job was working for the U.S. Forest Service as a Surveying Technician in Ely. In 1997 he purchased Bear Island Surveying, Inc.
Ted Floyd: Ted grew up in Ely, and his grandfather and father were both licensed surveyors in the area. Ted has been surveying for 20 years. He graduated from the Moorhead State University with a degree in Wildlife Biology and graduate school at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. He manages the office, and is certified as a wetland delineator. He and his wife Marcia live in a strawbale house in the woods about 8 miles south of Ely. Ted hunts, fishes, and spends time in the wilderness. (Some of us think maybe a little too much time.)
Tony Roethler: Previously from the Orr area, Tony has lived here in Ely for 15 years and owns CADLine Design. Tony has an Associate Degree of Applied Science Drafting and Design from Hibbing Community College. He brings 18 years of drafting experience and house design to the survey office. Tony and wife Kathy live south of Ely in the woods. In his spare time, Tony loves to fish, garden and play with his grandchildren!
Don Gossett: Don hails from Lincoln, MI. Don was in the U.S. Navy, has a degree in Forestry from Michigan Tech and a Bachelors Degree in Physical Geography from the University of Michigan, Flint. He brings us 25 years of surveying experience as a Crew Chief and Certified Surveying Technician. Don came to Ely with his new bride, Loretta, and their huge malamute, Shania (named for Shania Twain!). The family enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, cross-country skiing and canoeing.
Mark Crenshaw: Mark joined Bear Island Surveying in July of 2005 after Surveying in the Brainerd Lakes area for 10 years. Mark is a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) and is working towards registration as a Licensed Land Surveyor. Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Holly, daughter Dana and their 19 sled dogs (Dana's very hairy 19 brothers and sisters).
